Dr. Kyle Hammonds has been appointed as Program Head for the Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies (MAIS) at the University of Texas at Dallas. He will start the new position in the Fall 2025 semester.

The role

The Program Head role brings together teaching, advising, and program leadership. Dr. Hammonds will teach the Foundations of Interdisciplinary Studies graduate course, advise Master's students throughout their degree, chair theses and capstone projects, and facilitate the program admissions committee. Alongside those duties, he will oversee a series of updates to the MAIS designed to make the program more accessible and to serve a wider array of students.

About the program

MAIS is built around integrative learning — the practice of weaving methods and ideas from several fields into one coherent course of study. Graduate students craft their own degrees by combining classes from across the University curriculum. They can design a personalized concentration or choose from a list of pre-set tracks, such as American Studies, Media Management, and Arts Curation.

More on the program is available at the official UT Dallas MAIS page.
